Hospedería El Cobre

Santiago de Cuba Province

This large building behind the basilica has a pleasant sitting room and 15 monk-standard rooms with one to three beds with bath. It's charged in moneda nacional (not CUC). Meal times are 7am, 11am and 6pm. The nuns are very hospitable. House rules include no drinking or unmarried couples. Convertible donations to the sanctuary are appreciated. Reserve up to 15 days ahead.

The downstairs lobby displays information about the history of the Virgin and the church from the 1600s through to the visit of Pope Benedict XVI in 2012.
