Jauja

Liberia

This stylish bar-cafe (the name's pronounced 'How-ha') on the main drag is unusual for its upscale ambiance and classy cuisine. Service is also excellent. Look for wood-fired pizza, tender steaks from grass-fed cattle, and burgers on home-baked buns. It's popular with the local professional set, as well as tourists and expats.

It thumps to an '80s soundtrack, for better or worse.
