Chelarte

Bogotá

Chelarte – a portmanteau word combining Mexican slang for beer ('chela') and 'artesanal' – helped pioneer craft beer in Bogotá when brewer Camilo Rojas decided six years ago that Club Colombia and Aguila just weren't up to snuff. Today, their candlelit craft beer lounge is one of Bogotá's most atmospheric.

Nine taps include staples like their summer ale, pale ale and brown ale (all named after fictional females like Pamela, Rachel and Carmela) with rotating one-offs (look for the India pale ale and organic ale) and invited local nanobreweries. Good burgers and bar snacks as well.
