This cultural cafe, hidden within an early 20th-century English-style cluster of red-brick houses, provides a quiet escape from Bogotá’s rowdy streets. Part of the Houses and Histories Cultural Centre, it aims to keep Bogotá’s memories and history alive by providing a welcoming space to read, converse in the pretty garden and contemplate life over a coffee.
The house belonged to relatives of political and military leader, Antonio Nariño, and was once a meeting place for cachacos (the name given to well-dressed, educated men from Colombia's interior). The name, Cada Loco con Su Tema (literally, 'each crazy person with their issues'), means that everyone has a right to their own thoughts and way of perceiving the world – even if it seems crazy to someone else.
