This peaceful guesthouse is part of a renowned art centre and is run by a fluent English-speaking Tibetan woman and her family. At the time of research, simple but spotless and comfortable rooms with shared bathrooms were available, but they were also in the process of constructing some more luxurious options with bathrooms.
Tasty Tibetan and western meals (¥40) are served in the traditional Tibetan guestroom downstairs. The owners can organise English- and French-speaking guides for hikes and monastery visits. While you're here check out the workshops behind the guesthouse where beautiful statues are created using the Lost Wax technique. Works from here are regularly displayed in top-end galleries and showrooms around the world.
