Saiyuen

Outlying Islands

The rolling gardens of this stunning 4.5-hectare country retreat have been converted into an adventure park (tickets 9am to 7.45pm) and glamping venue. Kids will love it here where fruit trees grow and goats roam free. You can choose to stay in teepees, safari tents, gers or 'stargazing' domes. All, with the exception of teepees, come with air-conditioners and shower cubicles. Overall, though, facilities are basic for 'glamping'. There's lots to do for the family, from ziplining to mud-baking chicken.

Activities are well organised though nothing is free or cheap, even for campers. Non-resident visitors are welcome to enrol in activities though conditions apply. For meals, the camp offers a barbecue buffet (adult/child HK$180/100) but you'll need to rent utensils from them and buy drinks; there's also a store on-site that's open from 9am to 9pm. Saiyuen is a 1.7km walk from the ferry terminal, or you can take a kaito here.
