This hikers' hangout offers four doubles (two with private bathrooms) and dorms in a 100-year-old courtyard. An overgrown spur of the Great Wall runs along one side of the property. An on-site restaurant serves Chinese food and a few Western dishes.
Get off the bus just before the Gubeikou Tunnel, and instead of walking through the archway, go along the lane to the south of the village stream. You'll see the Box House sign after about 500m.
