Secluded down a dead-end road near the base of Mt Edith Cavell and the Angel Glacier, this rustic place has wood-burning stoves in each of its two 16-bunk cabins and in the propane-lit kitchen-common room, where guests play cards and share stories of hikes to nearby Cavell Meadows and the remote Tonquin Valley (trailhead directly across the street).
There's no phone service, wi-fi, flush toilets or running water, but guests have use of showers at the main hostel in Jasper. A manager runs the place from May to mid-October; in winter, the hostel is open for cross-country skiers on a key-collect system.
