Alongside its sandwich bar (French ham and Havarti recommended) plus racks of fresh-baked loaves, there's an irresistible array of treats, from cookies to croissants to rich chocolate brownies. Don't miss the hearty apple-cheddar-walnut galette; it's enough to feed two but that doesn't mean you have to share.

Little free samples are offered up most days; consider donning disguises and returning at least 27 times. And if you find yourself at a farmers market around the city, you'll often spot this bakery's stalls; they're the ones with the line-ups.
