Moda Hotel

Vancouver

Moda will never be in the big league of Vancouver's fancy boutique hotels, but it has two key things going for it: an excellent heart-of-the-city location and better rates than its posher siblings. The mostly small rooms combine mod, 'cheap-chic' flourishes with quirky heritage holdovers (the building opened in 1908). Light sleepers should avoid lower and front-facing floors.

The property is home to a popular wine bar that's perfect for a nightcap on your way back from an evening on the nearby Granville Strip. You'll also get free North American phone calls.
