Tucked demurely behind Chateau Lake Louise, historic Deer Lodge dates from the 1920s and has managed to keep its genuine alpine feel intact. The rustic exterior and maze of corridors can't have changed much since the days of bobbed hair and F Scott Fitzgerald. Lodge rooms are fairly small but quaint, while spacious Heritage rooms have smart, boutique-like furnishings.
The beautifully restored lounge and log-cabin sitting room, especially with its stone fireplace ablaze, make time travel feel like a real possibility. Tranquility here is ensured – you won't find a TV anywhere.
