Neptune River Bungalows

South Coast

Want to play Robinson Crusoe? You're in the right place. German proprietor Thomas has created a jungle getaway with bags of rustic charm. The four stilted wood-and-bamboo bungalows are set amid fruit trees and have lovely bathrooms, albeit with scoop showers. Meals (US$3 to US$7), using produce from the on-site gardens, are taken right on the river.

Boat transfer to/from Tatai Bridge (about 10 minutes) is included, and there's free use of kayaks.

Thomas organises a few fun boat tours for guests, including an all-day trip downriver to the fishing village of Koh Sra Lau, set amid the mangroves of Peam Krasaop Wildlife Sanctuary. Other trips head towards Tatai Waterfall and include a combination of kayaking and jungle trekking, plus a BBQ picnic at the falls.
