Under super-friendly French management, this long-standing backpackers has upped its game with a renovation of both the atmospheric main house and the enviably placed bar and restaurant, which features sunset views over the lake and an inviting pool. The cheapest rooms share bathrooms and there's a huge public balcony. New thatched bungalows run back from the pool, but are very basic.
Nonguests can swim in the pool for free if they dine in the restaurant.
