Ulu Ulu Resort

Top choice in Ulu Temburong National Park

Ulu Ulu Resort is the only accommodation actually inside the park. The upscale riverside lodge edges into the forest, with comfortable dorms and stylish private villas that resemble kampung (village) houses, linked by covered wooden boardwalks. Wildlife moves freely through the compound. Prices include transfers from BSB, meals and activities such as jungle walks and a 4.30am sunrise visit to the canopy walkway.

In Malay, ulu (as in Ulu Temburong) means ‘upriver’ and ulu ulu means, essentially, ‘back of beyond’. The remote location is ideal for bird watchers, and many species can be spotted without leaving the grounds. Resort activities range from guided jungle walks (by day and by night), canopy walkway visits, treks to forest waterfalls, kayaking and inner tubing and guiding birding. There's also a small nature centre and cinema where nature documentaries are screened. Day trips (B$163 per person) are also available.
