Pura Vida occupies a converted castle-like mansion (built in the 1920s) that was once the home of the Polish ambassador. A big draw for socially minded travelers, the hostel has spacious common areas, including an outdoor veranda with bar. Aside from its dorm rooms sleeping four to 12 people there are also brightly painted multistory units that are good options for couples.
