Pousada Casa do Caboclo

Amazonas

The first and only authorized alternative to Pousada Uacari for travelers visiting the reserve. Simple rooms, shared toilets and not-so-comfy boats don't compete with Pousada Uacari for comfort or polish (especially during the midday heat), but it's a great option for budget travelers or those looking for a less-touristed spot.

It's located in Boca de Mamirauá, an aptly named community at the mouth of the reserve, and all tours are within the protected area. That means you'll see the same animals and vegetation. Guests can also can climb three observation towers left behind by a Japanese film crew an unusual bonus.

It's run by an amiable local couple who spent years working as staff and guides at Uacari.
