A top-end tourist-class hotel, Namgay Heritage is a riot of hand-carved timbers. The rooms are less traditional than the five-storey atrium, but are warm and comfortable, with murals on the walls. Perks include the quiet location away from the hubbub, a decent restaurant, a free sauna, gym and indoor pool, and a great bar across the courtyard serving draught beers, coffee and cakes.
Visiting lamas should splash out on the suite, which comes with its own meditation throne.
