Ambergris Caye

Sure, there are sushi joints on Ambergris Caye. But this is the first upmarket Japanese establishment, and the classically trained and well-traveled Chef Toshiya has truly raised the bar. Traditional offerings include tempura, gyoza and tataki, while some fun Belizean takes on Japanese favorites include a miso soup with conch, or the wildly delicious ceviche roll.

There's also a good selection of sake, and even a sake-flavored ice cream for dessert.
