Lodge at Big Falls

Southern Belize

On a bend in the jungle-clad Río Grande, 18 miles from Punta Gorda, Lodge at Big Falls is a meticulously maintained property where tiled-floor, palm-thatched cabins are spread around beautiful gardens. Popular with birdwatchers and butterfly enthusiasts, the lodge is also a fine place from which to enjoy a host of activities and tours including caving, kayaking and river tubing.

The hardwood cabañas come with air-con and kitchenettes, while the thatch cabañas are fan-cooled with screened windows catching the breeze. The lodge also has a fine restaurant and bar serving breakfast, packed lunches (BZ$24) and dinner (BZ$80). Transfers to or from Punta Gorda are BZ$100 for up to four people.
