Cotton Tree Lodge

Southern Belize

Luxury, environmentalism and intense beauty meet on the banks of the Moho River a few miles north of the village of San Felipe. All of Cotton Tree's 11 thatched-roof cabins on stilts are luxuriously furnished in a superb jungle/hardwood motif – while they're all screened in, there's an exhilarating feeling of sleeping in the open.

The resort's power is partially provided by solar panels, while most of the food served in the lodge's excellent restaurant is bought locally or sourced from the onsite organic garden. Activities include hiking, horseback riding, kayaking, canoeing, caving and birdwatching (included in all-inclusive packages, extra if you take room-only). The 100-acre property offers amazing views of the nearby Maya Mountain Range on the western horizon.
