Cafe Lequet

Liège

Liège’s mascot Tchantchès hangs from a ceiling moulding in this classic panel-walled cafe-restaurant, which remains an utterly authentic locals' place for Liégeois standards including veal kidneys in mustard and shrimp-filled tomatoes.

The speciality is boulettes, large meatballs in a delicious fruity onion gravy served with perfectly fried, hand-cut chips. Unlike in most other such restaurants, the less hungry can order the meal with just one boulet, which is ideal for smaller appetites. Cash only.
