Except in July and August, you'll need to visit on weekends to enjoy Roche's most charming hotel, in an old stone mill nestled beside a babbling stream. The wooded valley is all a-twitter with birdsong yet is only 800m south of the town's Place du Bronze. The eight rooms are well appointed, the restaurant is enticing and the reception desk sits beside the original waterwheel.
Hidden discreetly behind there's also a well-tended campsite. Showers cost €2 extra.
