Cachet de Cire

Top choice in Northeast Belgium

Superb attention to detail is evident in every little touch here from the fresh market produce to the hand creams in the bathrooms. The cuisine and presentation are gourmet in quality, yet with generous portion sizes and at prices that are little more than those of a standard brasserie.

And if you want something less fancy, there are a few classic cafe options too (mussels, caesar salad etc), ideal for family dining. In summer the tables spill out into an unpretentious garden-yard shaded by espalier trees. The restaurant, which also has a few B&B rooms, is around 800m west of Grote Markt, just across the railway tracks.
