À l'Ange Gardien

The Ardennes

Around 150m south of the Abbaye Notre Dame d'Orval gates is the monastery's own stylish if architecturally forgettable tavern. As well as ‘normal’ and year-old bottle-aged Orval beer it also serves draught ‘Orval Vert’, a lighter, hoppier IPA available nowhere else.

You can also sample 'Vieil Orval', essentially normal Orval that has been bottle-aged for a year, gaining strength and a slightly woodier flavour. A taster board with 150mL glasses of all three beers and two sticks each of three Orval cheeses costs €8.30. There's also a wide food menu (mains €7.70 to €19.80).
