Antwerp

The Dôme's renowned Zurenborg bakery-cafe now also has an old-city address whose two upper rooms are lavished with mouldings and camp colours. Perfumed with floral candles, these exclusively serve upmarket high teas (five savoury and four sweet morsels along with tea or coffee). Downstairs beyond the bakery counter there's a 'cuisinette' for delicious, far cheaper open sandwiches and salads.

Or just sip a coffee on the narrow street terrace.
