Boekenwinkel Feniks

Top choice

Open when it's open, this tiny basement bookstore has a sweet collection of art plus poetry and other genres in a variety of languages.

Across the way, Boekhandel Maerlant (Kerkstraat 17), was supposed to be a pop-up shop for a just few months but at time of writing, two years had passed and it remained open. Its collection is amazing. Accepts cash, not cards.
