Surrounded by woods and overlooking the valley, this rather special hotel occupies a medieval Schloss (castle). It's been sensitively restored and retains much of the original structure, including an ancient Romanesque chapel crypt. Furnished with antiques, it's very atmospheric. The hotel is about 6km from Spitz, in Mühldorf. Sadly, it was closed at the time of writing while a new owner was being found.
