Set on the shore of the Mondsee, the Lackner offers elegant, contemporary rooms with balconies and lovely lake views. A private beach is set among the reeds, and the excellent terrace restaurant (closed Wednesday; mains €29 to €35, six-course menu €80) serves venison and lamb dishes as well as fish, complemented by a Vinothek (wine bar).

Book well ahead or be flexible in summer. Half-board is €20 extra per person, and there are cheaper deals during the week and in the shoulder seasons. The hotel is approximately 15 minutes by foot from the town centre (turn right heading towards the lake from the tourist office).
