Though our natural inclination is to avoid buffets, the spread in Strahan Village's hilltop hotel was a pleasant surprise, featuring well-prepared Tasmanian produce including plenty of fresh seafood. On top of that, the deck and window tables offer wonderful harbour views. There's also a limited à la carte menu in the lounge bar (antipasto, cheese, seafood or meat platters cost $40 to $55).
