Hadley's Orient Hotel

Hobart

This sumptuous place has clocked up more than 170 years of hospitality in the heart of the CBD. It’s acquired plenty of modern embellishments since its colonial beginnings – some good, some not so good – but the current management has poured millions into restoring its heritage charms. Some rooms are a tad poky, but wasn't everything in 1834?

The Tasmanian Museum & Art Gallery operates Hadley's Gallery here, displaying 29 historic prints of long-lost views of colonial Hobart and the Derwent River.
