Brolga Bar & Bistro

Kakadu National Park

This low-slung hangar is the only place to meet locals over a beer or glass of wine, but the atmosphere is either stale or rowdy. The bistro meals, such as T-bone steak, chicken parma and fish and chips, are honest and there's an outdoor deck overlooking the lake, a kids' playground and sport on TV.

You may be able to get bar snacks when the restaurant's closed for lunch.
