Sadie Thompson Inn

American Samoa

This wooden inn was – apparently – where the original Sadie Thompson (immortalised in Somerset Maugham’s novel Rain) set up her red light. It's a bit less rollicking these days, but makes for a clean, central place to stay. The identikit rooms are – alas – not done in period style, but the verandah-edged building itself is quaint and charming. The restaurant is hit-or-miss.
