This beach-shack-like place on the edge of the New Market square looks decidedly out of place, but then the food it serves is also utterly different to anything else you might find in Tirana. Created by an Albanian chef who learnt his trade in Bali, Sambal serves classic Southeast Asian dishes such as nasi goreng and bakso (meatball soup).
It's not exactly authentic, but it's a light and delicious change from the often-heavy Albanian food.
